Scott Davis (CTO at Infinio) recently posted an interesting article regarding a technology innovation what is potentially the most disruptive storage announcement/advancement in years. Even more disruptive than flash! This technology will likely take a couple of years to mature and become mainstream. Scott is referring to Storage Class Memory (SCM) aka Persistent Memory. This technology represents a new hybrid storage/memory tier with unique characteristics that, Scott predicts, will change the way that applications are designed and built, how they access their storage, and will fundamentally change how we build storage devices themselves.
